'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith renews contest with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the nail-biting final moments of Swansea's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses amid the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative effort from distance, and Cameron Burgess immediately hammered in the loose ball before racing off toward the home end to revel in the moment, with the crowd swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory sealed an extraordinary recovery given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. During the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a spectator sort of calling out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result secured a fourth-round game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in remarkable manner, with Jamie Donley's long-range effort from about long distance going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that range," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before shifting to right wing-back after they changed shape. That meant facing off against Jack Grealish, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the City players who paid tribute to the way the underdogs played positively.

City's Quality

"Physically they are exceptional but even the basics and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they understand how to manage and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're all right and then without warning they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even spotting it. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It takes a strong mentality and concentration just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across a couple of years at his former club and has quickly done the same in his new home. At his previous team he joined forces once more with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier the Manchester club, before he permanently left Manchester United.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a slightly green going into senior level. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like the ball is moved without serious challenge. You see few physical contests. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

He has shown that development for both domestically and internationally, shining for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the international competition next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the past five games, including two matches encounters against Germany. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he manipulates the ball and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Early Days

It has been quite the ride for the kid from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who grew up watching his dad, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's only game for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a European competition trip to the host city, where they competed on an synthetic surface and the stadium roof was closed owing to temperatures of -15C. "This represented a long trip and it was freezing," he recalls, chuckling. "The preceding week, several youth players and I practiced as a group, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged 16? "It was fairly simple, because I reached the point where I knew I wouldn't break through at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I felt I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm steadily working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a driving theory test, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to Sketty, the 24-year-old was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called team minibus, a team vehicle driven by club employees, the transport team, which shuttles players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has got his license. It's enjoyable to socialize with the teammates but I'm hoping to be the following person to stop using the bus and on the road. His teammate enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with supporters on the Tube after starting his journey at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
