Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Police state they were notified late on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then located multiple other vandalized cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report early analysis indicate the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; authorities are not yet informed of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the public for information.
A senior political figure stated the vandalism made him speechless and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he stated on a platform, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman targeting people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
